SIE gründet became an association in October 2022 – what an important step towards more visibility for international female founders!
Our journey there began many years ago. Since 2005, the Migrant Economy Unit has been inviting committed stakeholders from the fields of consulting practice, science and politics to find answers to the needs of international female founders in a nationwide expert forum. A great opportunity to learn together and achieve more. Since 2018, the Berlin-based social enterprise Frauenalia has been contributing its expertise and came up with a fantastic idea at the beginning of 2021: to organize the first digital summit, a conference solely for international women in Germany!
During the pandemic, Frauenalia’s networking events, webinars and coaching sessions only took place online. What seemed tedious at first turned out to be a stroke of luck, because suddenly completely new, different people could be reached- women beyond the big cities. And their feedback was always the same: Why isn’t there such a service in my town, in my city? And indeed, there was no nationwide support for migrants who wanted to start a business or who were already entrepreneurs.
Our founding day
So we set ourselves the task of closing this gap and planned the first two-day summit for international female founders in Germany for 2021. This also took place, in hybrid form, and was a great success. It was clear to us that it couldn’t just be two days! We need a legal form so that we can sustainably increase the visibility of international female founders and improve the structures, so that we can be a lobby for migrant female entrepreneurs. The idea of an association was born and with full passion and a clear vision SIE gründet e.V.- Verband für international Entrepreneurinnen in Deutschland was founded.
Idea & Concept
The Migrant Economics Center created with stakeholders from consulting, academia and politics a nationwide expert forum to address the needs of migrant founders.
Frauenalia's involvement
Frauenalia gUG was invited to join this forum of experts on migrant entrepreneurship.
Events, webinars and more
Through Frauenalia's digital offer of events and webinars during the pandemic, women nationwide were reached. It became clear that there was no comprehensive support for migrant female founders in many parts of Germany.
